Everton may have to cut losses on problem star as potential destination named – ‘Lucky to get £10m’

Everton could kickstart the January window by opening the exit door on Merseyside.

David Moyes’ side showcased their need for reinforcement in their latest outing as Everton lost 4-1 to Newcastle United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Antonee Robinson has been linked with an Everton move, while other areas of the pitch are seemingly being reviewed in L4.

There may be a need to sell before buying this winter, especially with a £26million fee mooted for Everton target Franculino Dju, among others.

The sale of fringe players could be utilised, with one set to help resolve issues at Finch Farm as well.

Everton could let Dwight McNeil go in January

Dwight McNeil’s days at Everton appear to be numbered after a frustrating season to this point under Moyes.

The Englishman has featured across just 64 Premier League minutes, last featuring as a late substitute in the defeat at home to Newcastle.

The winger was never going to impact that result positively and can continue to have frustrations with his limited gametime on Merseyside.

Former Everton scout Bryan King has suggested he may be causing problems in L4 and could look to make a loan exit or depart on a cut-price permanent deal.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: “The teams that have come up might be looking to reinforce.

The teams at the top of the Championship might also be interested. Coventry are not averse to strengthening, and he could be a player of interest to them.

I think anyone who can give him game time [could sign him], probably in the lower part of the league.

I think they’ll be lucky to get £10m for him with the way things have gone. I think he’ll probably be going out on loan with a £3m or £4m loan fee.

If someone is going to be niggling and causing problems, it’s best that they’re out of the club.

Coventry City could sign McNeil on loan from Everton

Frank Lampard may be set to reunite with his former Everton man as his high-flying Coventry side heads into the winter market.

The Sky Blues are sitting top of the Championship and look destined for the Premier League, but may go out in search of quality reinforcements.

McNeil would likely represent a step up from what is already available to the English head coach, despite his limited minutes under his belt.

Everton are said to want around £20m for the winger, but something closer to half of that or even a nominal loan fee could be the best-case scenario in L4.

It will be interesting to see how the Toffees deal with his exit and whether the second-tier leaders will showcase an interest moving forward.
