Idrissa Gueye set for summer exit as David Moyes unlocks true potential of ‘fantastic’ Everton star

Everton now may look to release Idrissa Gueye in the summer, given Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s newfound position.

David Moyes has rarely messed with his tactics this season, but in recent matches, he has begun to play the Englishman as a central midfielder rather than as an attacking one.

This started against Manchester United, with Dewsbury-Hall having a stunning game where he netted the winning goal.

Previously, Theo Walcott had labelled Dewsbury-Hall as “fantastic” as he has began to truly come out of his shell.

Against Bournemouth, Moyes once again tried this experiment, with the summer signing impressing once again, something that may well worry Gueye.

Everton may choose to not renew Idrissa Gueye’s contract

Everton have many players out of contract in the summer, and one of them is Gueye.

The Toffees star has been a vital player for years at the Merseyside club, but is now heading towards the end of his career.

On top of this, Gueye’s red card against Manchester United will have done him few favours despite the situation being quickly defused in the days after the match.

Therefore, while Everton have a one-year option on Gueye’s contract, they may now look to release him instead.

It has become clear in recent weeks that Dewsbury-Hall is more than capable of filling this role.

On top of this, James Garner has been outstanding whenever he has played this season, with Tim Iroegbunam also proving to be a sensational upcoming talent.

Therefore, it is hard to see where Gueye’s place in the team is, given that Moyes has now unlocked the true potential of Dewsbury-Hall.

As a result, surely the Senegal international’s Everton career will come to an end in the summer.

David Moyes needs a new attacking midfielder

If Moyes is to go down the route of using Dewsbury-Hall in a central midfield role, he needs a new attacking midfielder.

Carlos Alcaraz has been poor of late, and this continued against Bournemouth.

His stats provided by Sofacore on 2 December show how underwhelming he was against the Cherries.

While the Argentine may be a good squad player, he is simply not good enough to start week in, week out.

Therefore, Moyes has to look to the market to find a player who can take the Toffees to the next level in this position.
