Tyler Dibling set to start for Everton vs Nottingham Forest after Tim Iroegbunam blow

Tim Iroegbunam picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Bournemouth.

Everton secured a 1-0 victory away to Bournemouth on Tuesday, ramping up the pressure on Andoni Iraola, who is now winless in five.

Iroegbunam impressed for Everton on the night, having played in the absence of Idrissa Gueye after his sending off against Man United.

However, Iroegbunam’s yellow card means he will serve a one-match ban, which may force David Moyes into a tactical rethink for the clash with Nottingham Forest.

Carlos Alcaraz could return to Everton starting XI

Everton aren’t blessed with midfield options to play a deeper role, so it’s very likely that Moyes will have to try something different.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has thrived in a 10 role this season, but he was the one tasked with playing in a deeper role against the Cherries.

With Iroegbunam now missing through suspension, Carlos Alcaraz could drop slightly deeper, allowing Tyler Dibling to come in as the 10, or the wide player.

Jack Grealish has featured wide left, but he is more than capable of playing centrally, leaving Moyes with a few options in that regard.

The 19-year-old has played just 72 minutes of Premier League football this season, and now could be his chance to stake a claim for his place in the side on a consistent basis.

What has David Moyes said about Tyler Dibling?

After his breakthrough season with Southampton, Dibling was often referred to as one of England’s brightest prospects, but very little of that has been on show since his move to Everton.

The teenager is yet to get a goal or an assist, though Moyes has clearly seen his qualities in training, just not enough to warrant a start up to now.

If he is afforded a chance against Forest, he simply has to take it, given how unlikely he is to break back into the first team fold once those who are suspended return.

However, after what Moyes said when he arrived, it may not be long until trust is shown in him.

“Tyler is a talented young English player with lots of potential,” Moyes said.

He strengthens our attacking options, and we’ll support his development. We’re building a team Evertonians can be proud of, and Tyler will play an important part in that.”
