Marco Silva has already said why Everton should sign Antonee Robinson in ‘one of the best’ claim

David Moyes has placed a left-back on his agenda ahead of the January transfer window, and Antonee Robinson is someone Everton could target.

Everton famously sold Robinson for just £2million to Wigan Athletic in July 2019, and the Toffees have been made to regret that decision.

While Everton have continuously suffered in the left-back position, the USNMT international has become one of the Premier League’s best since joining Fulham in 2020.

The 28-year-old has racked up 17 assists in 139 top-flight appearances for the Cottagers, with such returns prompting Everton’s interest in Robinson ahead of January.

What Marco Silva has said about Everton target Antonee Robinson

Robinson has been sidelined with a knee injury for two months, though former Toffees boss Marco Silva confirmed on Tuesday that he is closing in on a return to action.

But despite his absence from 11 league matches so far in 2025/26, speculation over his future refuses to go away, and according to reports, Robinson is available for around £25m.

That is a fee The Friedkin Group could be tempted to sanction, especially since Vitalii Mykolenko is Everton’s only senior left-back as it stands.

So, with the possibility of the Fulham man returning to Merseyside, what Silva once said about him will surely excite supporters.

Speaking after Fulham’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal in December 2024, Silva hailed Robinson as ‘one of the best’ in the league.

“He’s been great for us. He’s one of the best left-backs in this league,” the Portuguese boss declared via West London Sport.

“It’s not just the way he is able to stop players, but the way he is able help ourselves.

“In open play last season he was the full-back in this league with most assists and this season is probably one of the full-backs with the most assists.

“He’s a top player and a great professional. He’s a proper athlete and is improving in some defensive positions we want him to improve.

“He’s improving season by season, and week by week you can see he is improving, and we are really proud to have him with us.”

Robinson’s standout 2024/25 campaign

Everton have been crying out for a quality left-back to challenge Mykolenko, with 19-year-old Adam Aznou becoming Moyes’ only other realistic option.

That is why £25m looks like a steal for a player of Robinson’s quality, especially after watching him produce 10 assists in 36 Premier League appearances in 2024/25.

Antonee Robinson’s per 90 Premier League stats in 2024/25
0.28 assists
3.35 progressive carries
1.08 successful take-ons
7.79 progressive passes received
2.7 tackles
1.76 interceptions

As delineated by the above table, Robinson is a complete left-back, ranking in the top seven per cent for progressive carries among Premier League defenders last term and the top two per cent for interceptions, evincing his qualities.

Robinson is also approaching the peak years of his career, and there’s no doubt most Everton fans would love them to be spent at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
