Everton could have signed ‘one of best’ Premier League players who is now worth £100m

Everton will aim to build some momentum during their Premier League showdown against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Everton were 1-0 victors over Bournemouth on Tuesday night, with Jack Grealish’s deflected winner proving to be the difference.

Forest, meanwhile, won by the same scoreline against Wolves, thanks to Igor Jesus’ first Premier League goal.

Ahead of the clash at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Opta’s supercomputer has predicted Everton to beat Nottingham Forest, although one player will have something to say about that.

Elliot Anderson can haunt Everton after 2023 transfer miss

During the Farhad Moshiri era, the Toffees were used to missing out on some excellent players, and the 2023 summer transfer window proved that.

Everton wanted to sign Elliot Anderson from Newcastle United, but the Magpies insisted he wasn’t for sale at the time.

Moshiri, of course, wasn’t to blame for failing to land the Englishman, though he was available for a reasonable price a year later.

Forest snapped up Anderson for £35million in July 2024, and since that day, the 23-year-old has become ‘one of the best midfielders in the Premier League’, in the eyes of Thomas Tuchel [BBC Sport].

Anderson is the beating heart in Sean Dyche’s midfield, combining incredible press resistance with powerful runs to dominate most matches.

The all-action midfielder has also become a crucial part of Tuchel’s England setup, forming an unbreakable partnership with Declan Rice, while making Everton regret not signing him in 2024.

Anderson is now worth £100m

Anderson’s form and value has skyrocketed since moving to the City Ground last year, and as a result, many of the Premier League’s top clubs have shown an interest.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and several others want the Nottingham Forest star, but will have to pay a premium to secure his services.

The former Newcastle starlet is being valued at £100m, and according to Sky Sports Switzerland, Man City are ‘in love with’ the midfielder and have watched him more than 10 times.

A nine-figure valuation for Anderson will hurt from an Everton point of view, as they wanted to sign him in 2023 for far cheaper and then watched him join Forest for £35m a year later.
