Everton out to rain on Nottingham Forest’s parade after latest reveal

Nottingham Forest are looking to do something for the first time ever when they face Everton this weekend.

Everton play host to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, looking to build on their narrow victory away to Bournemouth midweek.

Jack Grealish’s deflected effort was the difference against the Cherries, though a win against Forest is likely going to require a much better performance.

However, if the Toffees can secure all three points this weekend, they could end Forest’s hopes of achieving something for the first time in their history.

Everton must avoid repeat of what happened last season

Last season, like many in recent history, was not Everton‘s best, and within it, the Toffees fell to a 2-0 defeat to Forest at Goodison Park.

Chris Wood opened the scoring after 15 minutes for the visitors, with Morgan Gibbs-White making sure of all three points in the 61st minute.

However, if Forest were to repeat that result, it would be the first time in their history that they have won back-to-back away games against the Toffees.

This will be their 64th visit to Merseyside to face Everton, with the first encounter all the way back in 1892, when the two sides played out a 2-2 draw.

Since then, Everton have won 58 times against Forest, while Saturday’s visitors have won on 48 occasions, with 28 clashes resulting in a draw.

Sean Dyche has spoken about his Everton exit ahead of Forest clash

Sean Dyche steadied the ship for Everton, but it started to become clear that he had taken them as far as he could, hence why the change was made.

He’s made an excellent start to life as Nottingham Forest manager, and ahead of their trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, he was reminiscing about his time on Merseyside.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, he said: “It was hard. I said openly it was a very hard situation to manage, and I was very proud of what we all did by the way, not just me.

“As a manager you do take the heat and the criticism, you do take the good stuff as well, but there were so many people involved in making sure that the club got through a really messy period on and off the pitch for many different reasons, and to navigate a way through it.

“The time [to leave] had probably come, that is the way it goes, players were just dwindling a little bit, the heat was coming on, and I thought a change of face would work, and it has done.”

Throughout his time as Toffees boss, Dyche averaged 1.23 points per game, which is signficantly less than he is averaging with Nottingham Forest this season.
