Supercomputer predicts outcome of Everton vs Nottingham Forest in Premier League showdown

Everton are set to host Nottingham Forest on Saturday as they welcome back their former manager Sean Dyche.

The Toffees come into the match full of confidence after Jack Grealish’s sole goal proved to be enough to beat Bournemouth on Tuesday.

However, Nottingham Forest are also on a solid run, beating Wolves on Wednesday to make it three Premier League victories in four matches.

With Everton on the cusp of the European places, David Moyes will be looking to fulfil this ambition going into the festive period.

Everton favourites to overcome Nottingham Forest

In recent years, the Toffees’ fortunes against Forest have been mixed, with both sides earning surprising victories in their encounters.

Everton were defeated 2-0 at Goodison Park last season by the Reds. However, they would get revenge at the City Ground with a 1-0 win in April.

Now, Opta on 4 December is backing the Toffees to make it consecutive wins against Forest on Saturday.

The supercomputer believes that Everton have a 48.6 per cent chance of coming away with a victory.

In comparison, Forest sit at just 25.6 per cent. While the odds of a draw are currently at 25.8 per cent.

What has Sean Dyche said about facing Everton?

For Dyche, it will be the first time he has managed against Everton since he was sacked from the Toffees last season.

Since then, the Englishman has taken over Nottingham Forest and has quickly led them out of the Premier League relegation zone.

However, looking back on his time at the Toffees, the Forest manager has admitted that it was time for him and Everton to part ways when he was sacked.

He told BBC Sport on 4 December: “It was hard. I said openly it was a very hard situation to manage and I was very proud of what we all did, not just me as manager but there was so many people involved in making sure that club came through a really messy period on and off the pitch.

“The time had probably come [when he got sacked], that’s the way it goes. Players were dwindling a little bit, the heat was coming on and I thought a change of face would work and it has done.

“Moysey [David Moyes], with his history with the club and his know-how of the Premier League, is doing a good job as I thought he would do.”
