All 151 words Dion Dublin said about Thierno Barry after Everton win vs Nottingham Forest on Match of the Day

Dion Dublin has assessed Thierno Barry after he scored for Everton against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Barry netted in a 3-0 win over Forest as he bagged a long-awaited first goal since his big-money summer move at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton signed Barry from Villarreal and hoped he would be the end to the Toffees’ striking woes after plenty of frustration surrounded Beto.

The Frenchman started and scored as Everton secured victory against Forest after weeks of waiting for his first strike in blue.

Dublin has now spoken out on Barry’s maiden strike after the forward was singled out for his performance against Sean Dyche’s men.

Dion Dublin delighted for Thierno Barry at Everton

The summer signing had a scrappy effort ruled out as Everton suffered defeat at home to Newcastle United, as his annoyance continued.

Supporters have grown impatient with the striker, but have continued to back him and will him on to finding the back of the net.

The Hill Dickinson was delighted as Barry curled home an effort against Forest after Iliman Ndiaye laid the ball off inside the penalty area.

The finish was far from straightforward for Barry, especially with his seeming lack of confidence, but he took it on with aplomb.

Dublin was pleased for the forward and made his feelings clear as he spoke out via Match of the Day on 6 December.

He said: “He’s trying so hard, he’s getting himself into really good positions, and sometimes, as a centre-forward, everything you hit goes in, but at the moment, what he’s doing, he thinks he’s scored and shanked one in the corner, but it’s handball, and that didn’t work for him either.

But today, it just worked for him, there he is, he worked so hard, he ends up going down the centre of the pitch, and then he thinks, ‘Let me just open up the goal for Ndiaye.’ Ndiaye just puts it on a plate for him, but he’s got to make a decision, that is the only finish he can do, there’s nothing he can do apart from pass it into the back of the net.

Look at the joy in his face, that is someone who just wants to score goals and help his teammates out. I was so happy for him.

Barry must build on strike in Nottingham Forest win

The Toffees faithful were certainly pleased to see the Frenchman net his first in blue, but will be keen to see him score more frequently now.

Everton fans have been here before with strikers who struggle to score consistently and will be hopeful of that changing on Merseyside moving forward.

Barry has shown what he can do, but needs to build on his strike against Forest and take confidence from it moving forward.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, he really can’t afford for his struggles to continue, as a replacement could be in the pipeline.
