Arsenal lock in Ben White exit call after Everton developments
David Moyes is desperate to sign a new right-back this month, with Arsenal defender Ben White emerging as one such target.
Everton were expected to be busy in the January transfer window, but Moyes is yet to welcome any new arrivals to Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Friedkin Group have been urged to spend this month in order to maintain the support of Everton fans, with Moyes known to want a new right-back.
A swap deal involving Nathan Patterson and Bologna’s Emil Holm has been touted, with the 24-year-old Scotsman evidently not in Moyes’ plans.
Everton handed emphatic Ben White transfer response
Numerous other names have been thrown around as potential candidates to solve Everton’s right-back problem, and one of those is Arsenal’s White.
The 28-year-old is behind Jurrien Timber in the pecking order at the Emirates, and has made just five Premier League appearances for the Gunners so far this season.
As such, there are serious questions over his future in North London, despite having only signed a new long-term contract with the club in March of 2024.
But, those questions appear to have been answered, and it’s not good news for Everton.
That’s because as claimed in a report from Football.London on Monday, Arsenal have no interest whatsoever in letting White leave this month, forcing the Toffees to look elsewhere.
Why Ben White would’ve been a very smart signing for Everton
Although he has found himself out of favour in Mikel Arteta’s team, White has still proven himself to be a top-class defender at Premier League level for a number of years now.
He’s played over 160 times in English football’s top flight, and has 24 Champions League appearances under his belt too.
- White has started four Premier League games this season
- He’s averaging a 7.3/10 rating per game in the PL
- White has played 173 times for Arsenal, scoring six goals and providing 13 assists
White would’ve undoubtedly won more than his four caps for England had he not endured his well-documented fractured relationship with the Three Lions, and it was only in 2024 that he was coming off the back of a 2023-24 season in which he played 51 times for Arsenal.
Strong in both the attacking and defensive side of the game, White would’ve provided Everton with a huge upgrade at right-back, but now they will have to lick their wounds and find another alternative.
