Everton fans will be fuming after The Friedkin Group’s priority made clear with £22m transfer
Everton fans are coming to accept that there won’t be many additions to David Moyes’ squad in the January transfer window.
The Toffees are yet to make a signing this month, and there are very few rumours floating around about potential incomings.
Moyes would like to bring in a right-back, with Jake O’Brien forced to spend the majority of the season in that position due to a lack of options.
It remains to be seen if The Friedkin Group will provide the funds, but it’s clear that there is money to spend, given their other endeavours.
Roma spending The Friedkin Group’s money
As well as holding a majority stake in Everton, The Friedkin Group also owns Serie A outfit Roma.
While the Toffees seem slow off the mark in the January window, the Italian side are racing to get deals over the line.
According to FootMercato, Roma are on the verge of reaching an agreement to sign Robinio Vaz from Marseille for £22million.
Over the past few days, the Serie A outfit have also been linked with Aston Villa frontman Donyell Malen and Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee.
Roma are also pushing to sign Radu Dragusin from Tottenham on loan until the end of the season.
Are The Friedkin Group prioritising Roma?
Everton fans will be confused as to why Roma are seemingly so active in the transfer market, while the Toffees are yet to make any decisive moves.
Of course, I Giallorossi are fighting at the top of Serie A, just four points adrift of league leaders Inter Milan, while Moyes’ side sit 12th in the Premier League.
However, Everton clearly still need signings to boost any remaining European hopes they have in the second half of the season.
There is more than enough time remaining in the transfer window for The Friedkin Group to sanction some deals, but if nothing comes to fruition, there will be questions asked.
