Friedkin Group told to spend at Everton as they cross the line of tradition at Hill Dickinson
The Friedkin Group must spend in the January transfer window to keep Everton fans onside.
David Moyes’ side are now out of the FA Cup after being beaten by Sunderland on penalties, meaning any chance of silverware this season is gone.
James Garner scored a last-minute spot-kick to take the game to extra time on Sunday, but then missed in the shootout, as did Thierno Barry and Beto.
The Black Cats scored all three of their penalties to win the shootout 3-0 and advance to the next round, leaving Everton with one aim for the rest of the season.
Everton need recruitment in January
Everton currently sit 12th in the Premier League, but they are only four points adrift of fifth-placed Brentford and in with a real chance of securing European football.
However, for that to happen, The Friedkin Group must back Moyes in the January transfer window and improve the Scotsman’s squad.
The Toffees are in desperate need of a right-back this month, as Jake O’Brien has had to play out of position for the majority of the season so far.
Nathan Patterson could leave Everton in the coming weeks, which would make room for an incoming.
Former director of communications at Goodison Park, Alan Myers, believes that the recruitment team must give the supporters hope for the second half of the campaign.
Writing for Everton News, Myers said: “It’s clear TFG needs to spend too; the recruitment team need to step up and get players in that can help to make the second half of the season something to give fans hope.
“They don’t expect miracles at this point, but they do expect progress.”
The Friedkin Group mess with Everton tradition
Myers was also particularly unhappy with the fact that Everton were wearing their navy blue fourth kit for the FA Cup clash against Sunderland, despite the fact that they were playing at home.
The brand new strip was created to celebrate the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but Toffees fans were unimpressed with the change.
Myers criticised Everton for their decision to stray away from their Royal Blue home kit, warning them not to mess with tradition.
He said: “Oh, and please, please, play home games in a Royal Blue kit, don’t mess with tradition.
“I get the commerciality aspect, of course, but some things are off limits when it comes to revenue streams; this was one.”
Transfers are needed immediately, and any other unnecessary movement will only leave fans less on board with the American ownership.
