Everton ‘could be in more PSR trouble’ as Premier League get set for new announcement
Everton could once again face financial punishment from the Premier League.
Farhad Moshiri had Everton in a terrible place as the threat of points deductions remained a constant towards the end of his tenure.
The Toffees were slapped with a 10-point punishment, all while Manchester City are seemingly getting away with their charges.
Things are looking brighter now with David Moyes in charge and The Friedkin Group in charge of Everton, despite frustration with January business so far.
That may not be enough to stop further complaints from the Premier League as PSR concerns could be set to impact the Blues once again.
Everton post consecutive financial losses
Everton lost on penalties against Sunderland to be knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round, ending any chance of silverware this season.
The overall performance was proof of how badly Moyes needs reinforcements, with the likes of Nathan Patterson, Adam Aznou, Elijah Campbell and Reece Welch featuring at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
That may not be as possible as many supporters may expect in L4 as financial trouble may be on the horizon in L4.
Mark Douglas has reported to The i Paper that the Toffees are one of nine Premier League clubs to have posted consecutive losses in their last two accounts.
Manchester United, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Tottenham and Wolves match the Blues with the journalist suggesting that “all nine could be in trouble”.
Everton ‘won’t lose sleep’ over PSR troubles
There may be no fear for the Merseyside outfit over financial punishment or another points deduction.
The report from The i Paper added that Professor of Applied Sport Finance Rob Wilson said, “no one will be having sleepless nights this year [over PSR trouble]”.
That can only be seen as a boost for Moyes and Co., who have been on the up ever since the Scot returned to become the Toffees’ boss.
There will be hope now that financial freedom and a lack of monetary worry could be exactly what the Friedkins need to finally spend in the January transfer window.
