Jack Grealish must do one thing after ‘letting himself down’ at Everton

Jack Grealish’s Everton career has ground to something of a halt after a lightning start on Merseyside.

Grealish moved on loan to Everton from Manchester City over the summer, and the change in surroundings worked wonders in the opening weeks of the season.

The winger picked up five goal contributions in his first seven Premier League games for the Toffees, but has only managed three in the 12 matches since.

Grealish was then sent off during Everton’s 1-1 draw with Wolves on 7 January, the first glimpse that not all is going according to plan under David Moyes.

Jack Grealish must improve end product at Everton

Michael Keane was controversially sent off against Wolves for allegedly pulling Tolu Arokodare’s hair while challenging for the ball.

Grealish, obviously incensed with the decision, then picked up two yellow cards in the space of just three minutes and was dismissed himself.

The second booking came in the 90th minute, with the Man City loanee being hauled to the floor and sarcastically clapping the referee for giving the free-kick.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, former Everton left-back Michael Ball believes Grealish let himself down against Wolves, while adding that he needs to improve his end product.

Ball said: “He (Grealish) let himself and the club down with his red card against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“He’s a star player, the opposition will try and kick him and put him off as much as possible. He needs to have the right mentality to deal with that.

“Jack now has an opportunity to put that right. We want more end product from him with shots and crosses – that’s what he’s been brought to the football club to do.”

Should Everton sign Jack Grealish permanently?

Ever since Grealish made the loan move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, all the talk has been about whether Moyes’ side will sign him permanently next summer.

Everton have an option to buy Grealish for £50million, but given he turns 31 next September, it seems unlikely that they would pay that amount.

That price may have already been reduced, too, after Antoine Semenyo signed for City.

Instead, the Toffees could try to negotiate the price down, with the England international unlikely to feature at Man City under Pep Guardiola.

If Everton can agree on a reasonable fee for Grealish, then there is no reason why they shouldn’t complete the deal, given the impact he has shown he can have on the team.
