Nathan Patterson latest at Everton as January transfer news rubbished

Nathan Patterson will be of interest to clubs in the UK and Europe if he’s made available for loan at Everton.

The Scotland international has struggled to make an impact at the Toffees since undergoing surgery for his hernia issue.

Patterson has been linked with an exit from the Hill Dickinson Stadium as the defender looks to make a place for himself in Steve Clarke’s 2026 World Cup squad.

David Moyes has had to rely on Jake O’Brien at right-back, with Seamus Coleman also injury-prone, making reinforcements in that position an evident priority.

Everton not working on Nathan Patterson and Emil Holm swap deal

Reports in Italy have claimed that the Toffees have offered Bologna money and Patterson for right-back Emil Holm.

The Sweden international is said to be on the Blues’ radar as they look to bolster their backline at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, on 13 January, the Liverpool Echo dismissed talk of the Merseyside outfit’s interest in the Serie A club’s 25-year-old defender, terming it “speculation”.

It’s also been reported that suggestions of Patterson being offered in a swap deal for Holm are “wide of the mark”.

What’s clear is that Moyes should ask for a new right-back in L4 capable of getting into the starting lineup, but it remains to be seen whether The Friedkin Group will back him.

Guela Doue transfer truth also emerges at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Scouts from the Hill Dickinson Stadium have watched Strasbourg right-back Guela Doue, but the Toffees are said to be hoping to sign someone with more Premier League experience.

While the 23-year-old Cote d’Ivoire international has been linked with Everton, the Liverpool Echo claim that he isn’t on their agenda.

As things stand, Patterson is a key player for Moyes, putting in a decent shift against Sunderland in the FA Cup third round despite the loss.

Unless the Merseyside outfit sign someone capable of replacing O’Brien from the right side of the defence, it wouldn’t make sense to part ways with the former Rangers ace.
