David Moyes on collision course with Sean Dyche as striker prefers Everton move
David Moyes is desperate to bolster his centre-forward ranks this month.
Everton were expected to be active in the January window, but two weeks in, and Moyes is yet to welcome any new faces to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Pressure is growing on the Friedkin Group to invest in the team from supporters, with the Everton owners urged to back Moyes in the market this month.
Everton’s priority has always been to sign a striker this winter, and just when Moyes appeared to be on the brink of getting one, a spanner has been thrown into the works.
Everton and Nottingham Forest fight for Youssef En-Nesyri
Moyes has long been a fan of Youssef En-Nesyri, having tried numerous times to sign him for West Ham.
The Fenerbahce striker has been strongly linked with a move to Everton this month, but now in a fresh report from Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg via X on Wednesday, it is claimed that Nottingham Forest have entered the race to sign him.

However, it’s stated that the 28-year-old favours a move to Everton over Forest, but in a separate post, Plettenberg reports that no deal has been agreed between Fenerbahce and the Toffees.
Further talks over his future are expected to happen on Wednesday, and it’s claimed that Everton have already submitted a loan bid for the Morocco international.
En-Nesyri’s Everton-Forest decision is a tough one
With Everton sitting 12th in the Premier League table and Nottingham Forest currently 17th, on paper, a move to Merseyside would appear to more wiser one.
However, it’s not as straightforward as that, because despite Forest’s struggles this season, they do posses some top-quality talent in attack, with the opportunity to receive service from the trio of Omari Hutchinson, Morgan Gibbs-White and Callum Hudson-Odoi sure to interest him.
- En-Nesyri has scored seven goals in 15 Turkish Super Lig games this season
- He’s scored a total of 38 times in 77 games for Fenerbahce
- He spent four-and-a-half years with Sevilla prior to moving to Turkey, where he scored 73 in 196 games
If he went to the City Ground and started scoring, then Dyche’s side could quickly close the gap to Everton in the table, and that attractiveness in terms of league position would be made redundant for the Toffees.
On the other hand, with a full attacking complement of Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye – once he returns from AFCON – operating as the centre-forward in-between those two would excite any centre-forward who backs themselves to score goals.
