Everton commit to permanent exit for long-serving goalkeeper as medical underway
Everton’s transfer business looks as though it is about to ramp up as a number of players are linked with moves – both incoming and outgoing.
A surprise Everton move for Youssef En-Nesyri now appears to be on the cards as David Moyes looks to add to his attacking ranks.
Nathan Patterson may be on his way out of Everton, meanwhile, with clubs both home and abroad supposedly showing an interest.
But before that, it looks as though the permanent exit of a goalkeeper is about to be signed off on at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Fresh update emerges on Harry Tyrer to Cardiff City transfer
Reports emerged on Tuesday that long-serving goalkeeper Harry Tyrer was set to undergo a medical with Cardiff City.
Tyrer has been on Everton‘s books since 2008, turning professional in 2020, but has never made a senior appearance for the Toffees.
Now aged 24, Tyrer’s only taste of senior action has come in loan spells at Chester, Chesterfield and Blackpool.
Wales Online journalist Glen Williams, who first reported news of the transfer, has now provided fresh information of Tyrer’s imminent move to Cardiff.
Asked on X if the deal is a loan or permanent, Williams replied: “Permanent I believe.”
Tyrer’s time on Merseyside is therefore set to come to an end, possibly as early as this week, but there is one obstacle in place.
What could hold up Tyrer’s Everton exit?
Tyrer has been wanted by EFL clubs in the past, most notably by Steve Bruce when he was at Blackpool, but he has stayed on Everton’s books.
His near-two-decade spell with Everton is now coming to an end, though, with the only thing delaying the exit Cardiff’s transfer embargo.
| Competition | Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets |
| League One | 38 | 42 | 12 |
The Welsh side failed to submit relevant paperwork in time for the winter transfer window, but it is expected that will soon be lifted.
Once that is the case, and assuming Tyrer passes his medical as expected, he may well become the Toffees’ first permanent departure of the month.
Tyrer clearly has no future at Everton, largely owing to Jordan Pickford’s status as undisputed number one – and indeed number two – so this is a move that will him massively.
It goes without saying that everyone at Everton will wish Tyrer all the best for the future.
