Everton guilty of laziest scouting ever as bid submitted for next David Moyes signing

Everton manager David Moyes may finally get a new signing in the coming days.

The Friedkin Group backed Moyes with approximately £113million in the summer, but funds have not been as forthcoming in this window.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit are yet to complete a winter signing, and CEO Angus Kinnear had previously warned Everton fans about expecting significant business.

The mid-season market is notoriously difficult, but the Blues may be set to secure a new forward in a huge boost for the Scotsman.

Who have Everton submitted a bid for?

Everton have made a loan-to-buy approach for Fenerbahce striker Youssef En-Nesyri, who has eight goals in 25 appearances this season.

The offer is understood to have a £17million clause that would allow the Blues to make a move permanent in the summer.

Moyes may still have a job on his hands to convince En-Nesyri, as he wants to play in a hot climate, which he would not get on Merseyside.

Everton’s chiefs cannot be serious with En-Nesyri approach, here’s why

En-Nesyri profiles like Beto and Thierno Barry, who are the reason why the Toffees are in the market for a new attacker in the first place.

Beto is number one, and Barry is number five on Fbref‘s list of similar players to the potential new addition in L4, which will not make encouraging reading for Evertonians.

That means that they rank closely in terms of percentiles for statistics included in the outlet’s scouting report summary on the player’s main page, which include Europe’s top-five leagues and the Champions League and Europa League.

For example, the former Sevilla frontman averages 0.27 non-penalty goals in the last 365 days, while the Guinea-Bissau man has 0.38, and Barry boasts a rate of 0.28.

Therefore, it seems like the recruitment chiefs on Merseyside have not done much work, and may be guilty of the laziest scouting ever.

If he does sign, there will likely not be much excitement among the fanbase, given that he does not look like an upgrade on the current duo.

It is all well and good backing Moyes, but it needs to be with players who can actually make a difference.
