Everton transfer roundup: ‘Surprise’ talks begin as long-serving player set for exit
Everton finally appear to be ramping up their transfer business as the midway point of the winter window nears.
The Toffees have so far been quiet on the transfer front, with only a couple of loan exits for younger players agreed.
Francis Okoronkwo has left Everton on loan for Doncaster Rovers, while George Finney has joined Ayr United until the end of the campaign.
One of those players has already made an instant impact at his new side, while a number of players have been linked with moves to and from Everton in a busy 24 hours on the transfer front.
Goodison News rounds up all the latest goings on from Hill Dickinson Stadium.
George Finney in dreamland after Everton exit
It did not take young right-back Finney very long at all to get going at Scottish side Ayre.
The youngster slotted straight into Ayr’s starting line-up for Tuesday’s 4-1 Scottish Challenge Cup win over Stranraer and was on the scoresheet.
Ayr compete in the Scottish Championship, meaning a chance for Finney to really get stuck in over the next four months before returning to Merseyside.
Everton have issues at right-back, so it might well be that Finney is fast-tracked into the senior side before too long if all goes well.

David Moyes finds Michael Keane replacement in exciting move
Everton fans are crying out for the club to sign a prolific striker, but a new centre-back is also clearly being targeted.
It has now been reported that Estoril’s Kevin Boma is of interest to the Toffees this window.
The Portuguese club are said to be open to selling Boma, but Everton are not alone in showing an interest in the defender.
Boma can be considered a replacement for Michael Keane, who is set to be out of contract at Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.
Moyes delight as Everton in ‘surprise’ talks for striker
The biggest topic of conversation with regards to Everton transfer activity over the past 24 hours has centred around Youssef En-Nesyri.
It has been reported that Everton lead the way for En-Nesyri, despite other clubs – including Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest – showing an interest.
Given the lack of goals from Thierno Barry and Beto, any sort of new arrival up top would be very much welcomed.

Should a deal be struck, it will likely be on a loan basis until the summer with the option of making it permanent.
In what is described as a “surprise” move, Moyes will no doubt be delighted as he wanted En-Nesyri while he was at West Ham.
Everton commit to permanent exit for long-serving goalkeeper
The closest piece of business to being completed at Everton, if reports are anything to go by, is the exit of Harry Tyrer.
The goalkeeper has been on Everton’s books since 2008, turning professional in 2020, but has yet to make a senior appearance.
| Competition | Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets |
| League One | 38 | 42 | 12 |
Tyrer is undergoing a medical with Cardiff City, although confirmation of a move will have to wait until the Bluebirds have a transfer embargo lifted, potentially later this week.
It emerged on Tuesday that the deal will likely be permanent, rather than fourth loan exit for long-serving Tyrer.
