Ashley Williams loves sound of bargain transfer Everton could pull off
Everton are desperate for a new striker signing this month.
David Moyes needs a new option, with Beto and Thierno Barry struggling to lead the line at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The duo have notched three goals each in all competitions, which is simply not good enough for the Blues.
Former Everton defender Ashley Williams has shared how he would feel about a striker that has been linked with the Toffees.

Why Ashley Williams thinks Wilson would fit at Everton
Callum Wilson is the latest man to be mooted with an Everton move, as he is in talks to cancel his West Ham contract.
Williams believes that the 33-year-old could work out as a good signing, if the Blues can keep him in top shape.
Speaking on Sky Sports on 15 January (09:23 am), he said: “If they can get Callum Wilson fit and keep him fit, I think he would fit the Everton style of play and David Moyes’ team.
“I can see him being successful, if he can stay fit, he’s very difficult to play against, and he would suit the style of football that Everton are playing.”
Why Wilson would be a good short-term option for Moyes
Wilson cannot be the long-term starting option for the Merseysiders, but he may be a solid short-term option.
He could be a valuable mentor to Thierno Barry, teaching him the tricks that can make him succeed in the Premier League.
- Wilson started his Premier League career with Bournemouth in the 2015/16 season
- He then moved to Newcastle in 2020, where he notched 47 goals across five seasons
- He joined the Irons on a free transfer in the summer, but Nuno Espirito Santo does not utilise him
Wilson has 92 goals and 26 assists in 256 top-flight matches, so he knows where the back of the net is at the elite level.
So far in his stint with the Hammers, he has managed to stay fit, making 17 appearances in the division, notching four goals.
That suggests that he could come in and ease Everton’s attacking concerns for now, but they need either Barry to step up, or to sign a new young forward in the near future.
Wilson cannot be the long-term plan, he is far too old, and his previous injury issues are too much of an issue for him to be relied upon.
The veteran has missed 114 matches for club and country in the last six seasons, which does not inspire confidence in his ability to stay fit.
