Everton learn Tammy Abraham transfer fate as contract offered

Tammy Abraham was one of the strikers that Everton were understood to have looked at this month.

David Moyes is desperate for attacking recruits, with Beto and Thierno Barry struggling to get going in front of goal.

The duo have three goals each in all competitions, which is simply not good enough for the Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit.

The Toffees have now learnt whether they will be able to sign Abraham in the winter transfer window after a new update on his future.

Tammy Abraham set for Premier League move with contract on the table

Everton are looking at Callum Wilson and Youssef En-Nesyri, but Abraham was an alternative target for the Blues.

A report from the Times on 15 January claimed that the Toffees pursued the 11-cap England international this month, but he prefers to join Aston Villa.

It states that the Villans are closing in on his signature and have offered the ex-Chelsea man a four-and-a-half year contract.

Why Everton may regret missing out on Abraham

Abraham is one of the most experienced strikers on the market, with stints in the Premier League, Serie A, and the Turkish Super League.

The 28-year-old has made 89 appearances in the English top-flight, with 112 in Italy’s top tier and 17 in Turkey’s first division.

He has also played 22 times in the Champions League and 18 times in the Europa League, so has significant European experience.

He has 69 goals and 28 assists in all those competitions, showing his class in the final third, and he would have been a brilliant addition for Moyes’ side.

Unfortunately, he has made his choice and will not be moving to Merseyside, and the Blues may have to watch his talents from afar.

If he returns to English football and starts scoring regularly for Unai Emery’s side, then the Toffees may regret not making a bigger push for his signature.

They will have to settle for one of the other options, who may not work out as well as the former AC Milan and Roma forward would have.
