Spanish side have fingers crossed as Everton in talks for player Jose Mourinho loves
Everton’s January transfer priority is getting David Moyes a new striker.
Moyes wants a fresh number nine this month, to aid with the goal-scoring issues that are holding the Toffees back.
Beto has come under fire this season for missing multiple big chances, and while Thierno Barry has shown signs of promise, he still looks too raw for the Premier League.
Everton have been linked with Fenerbahce’s Youssef En-Nesyri, and talks are continuing over a potential loan deal.

Malaga eager to benefit from Youssef En-Nesyri’s Everton move
There have been suggestions that En-Nesyri would be a poor signing for Everton to make due to his fall in terms of goal-scoring form this campaign.
However, the striker is still trying to find his feet under Fenerbahce’s new manager, Domenico Tedesco, after the sacking of Jose Mourinho in August.
According to Diario AS’s print edition on Thursday, En-Nesyri‘s former club Malaga are keeping a close eye on the Moroccan’s potential move to Everton.
The Spanish side are waiting to see if there will be a loan fee included in a deal that could see them receive financial compensation.
If the loan deal is free of charge, Malaga won’t receive a penny, potentially harming their push to get back into Spain’s top flight.
But wider doubts over the Blues’ pursuit of En-Nesyri should be cancelled out by Mourinho’s raving review of the 28-year-old’s stellar season last campaign.
Jose Mourinho’s love for ‘distinguished’ En-Nesyri
En-Nesyri has still scored more than Beto and Barry combined this season at the end of the day, albeit in a weaker league, and has proven to be a consistent scoring threat throughout his career.
It was the last campaign where the striker had his best scoring season, racking up stupendous numbers for Fenerbahce under Mourinho.
Youssef En-Nesyri’s 2024-25 numbers:
- Games: 52
- Goals: 30
- Assists: 5
En-Nesyri has been hailed by Mourinho in the past, and Moyes would surely benefit from his arrival.
Mourinho said last year: “Youssef En-Nesyri is a distinguished player, and his presence in the team has made a big difference.”
Standing at 6,2″ tall, Everton could bring a new target man to Hill Dickinson Stadium this month – one who only knows how to put the ball in the back of the net.
