Joe Thomas reacts as Everton and Youssef En-Nesyri news emerges

Everton are unlikely to pursue a deal for Fenerbahce striker Youssef En-Nesyri if it involves significant sums.

An offer has reportedly been sent from the Hill Dickinson Stadium for En-Nesyri, with the Toffees willing to pay him £3.9million in wages for a loan move until the end of the season.

David Moyes may also have his eyes on Callum Wilson, with the English striker looking to terminate his contract at West Ham.

Speculation has been raging about the Morocco international’s potential switch to the Merseyside outfit, but all may not be as it seems.

Everton transfer news of Youssef En-Nesyri deal dismissed

En-Nesyri isn’t someone the Toffees are possibly going to pursue heavily due to the reported finances involved, Joe Thomas says.

The Liverpool Echo journalist believes that while the Blues might have had a conversation about the terms of a potential deal to sign the striker at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the intensity of those talks could potentially be overblown.

Despite the current information out there about the Merseyside outfit’s pursuit of the former Sevilla star, the truth seemingly lies elsewhere.

Speaking on the Royal Blue podcast on 16 January, Thomas said, “Some of the fees being mentioned are a little bit further than where Everton would like to go. Unless anything changes on that front, it’s probably one that Everton aren’t going to pursue too heavily.”

The journalist added, “Maybe Everton have been aware of his availability and have perhaps spoken to Fenerbahce about what the terms of any deal might look like, but right now I’m not quite sure it’s reached a stage that other people have perhaps said that it’s at.”

The Liverpool Echo previously dismissed claims about En-Nesyri, and Thomas looks to be doubling down on it.

David Moyes may have already hinted at striker profile wanted at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Everton also made an approach for Tammy Abraham, who’s on loan at Besiktas from Roma, but the Englishman favours a move to Aston Villa.

Going by the Toffees’ links to the likes of the former Chelsea star and En-Nesyri, it’s clear that Moyes wants a number nine who can impose their physicality in the Premier League.

Beto is already at the Scottish manager’s disposal, but the Guinea-Bissau forward’s finishing this season has been abysmal.

Thierno Barry is still young and has a lot to learn, and it will be interesting to see if the Merseyside outfit do sign someone to reinforce their attack.
