Chris Sutton demands England consideration for Everton player after win vs Aston Villa

Jack Grealish and James Garner are certainly doing their best at Everton to convince England manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

David Moyes’ team beat Aston Villa at home in the Premier League on 18 January, and the former Chelsea boss was watching from the stands.

Grealish has been knocking on Tuchel’s door repeatedly, but it doesn’t look like the English forward is part of the Three Lions’ plans under the German manager.

Garner has also made a case to be on the plane to Canada, Mexico and the USA with his performances this season, but it remains to be seen whether the powers that be feel the same.

Thomas Tuchel told to consider James Garner England call-up after Everton heroics

Chris Sutton feels Garner should be on Tuchel’s radar for the 2026 World Cup after his performances this season.

The former Norwich City and Celtic striker believes the midfielder should be part of the German manager’s thinking, as he identifies who will make the England squad.

In the current campaign, the 24-year-old has showcased his versatility at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, which may come in handy for the Three Lions.

Writing on X on 19 January, Sutton said, “Should Garner be in Tuchel’s thoughts? This Everton fan thinks so, and so do I. What do you think?”

Tuchel was seen speaking with Moyes after the win over Villa, and only the two can reveal what they discussed.

It wouldn’t be surprising if the Scottish manager made a case for both Grealish and Garner to be a part of the England squad, but only time will tell whether the German head coach has any faith in the two.

David Moyes has another player who can make England debut after this season

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been exceptional at the Hill Dickinson Stadium since signing from Chelsea, but an unfortunate injury has slightly derailed his season.

While the Everton midfielder hasn’t represented any country at the youth level, he is eligible to play for both England and the Republic of Ireland.

If the 27-year-old continues to go from strength to strength at the Blues, it won’t be long before he gets an international call-up from the Three Lions.

England have some talented midfielders on their books, and the Merseyside outfit have some impressive contenders.
