Everton make approach to sign Wilson Isidor from Sunderland, price tag revealed

Everton want to sign Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor this January.

The Toffees have yet to do any transfer business from an incoming perspective, though efforts are expected to be accelerated in the coming days – quite frankly, they’ll have to be with less than two weeks left of the window.

With Jarrad Branthwaite due back from injury in the near future, and Brooke Norton-Cuffy linked with a switch to Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton are somewhat covered for defensive options.

However, attacking reinforcements are a must for the Blues, and they have reportedly set their sights on signing Sunderland’s Isidor.

How much would Everton have to pay to land Wilson Isidor?

Isidor was a complete unknown before he joined Sunderland on loan last season, though his form in the Championship earned him a permanent move to English football for a fee in the region of £3.5million.

The Frenchman, who could reportedly declare to represent Haiti, started the current campaign in fine fashion, with three goals in his first five Premier League games, though goals have since dried up.

Brian Brobbey has taken his place on Wearside, with a report from The Mirror now stating that Everton have set their sights on signing Isidor this January.

It’s claimed that the Toffees have made an informal enquiry for the striker, who could set the Blues back a reported £25m if they were to pursue a deal.

Isidor stats

David Moyes is said to be a big fan of the 25-year-old, though it remains to be seen how far the Toffees are willing to push for a deal.

What would Isidor bring to Everton?

Everton need goals, and having been in and out of the Sunderland team, it remains to be seen whether Isidor would be able to provide them on a regular basis.

However, he would offer something that they currently lack, which is blistering pace and a willingness to run the channels.

He showcased both regularly in the Championship and often caught the attention of pundits and managers off the back of doing so.

Ali Maxwell, a pundit from Not The Top 20, said: “He’s a player that I love. He’s got such acceleration, he loves peeling wide.

He’s quite a nifty dribbler, quite an awkward dribbler when he does get on the ball in wide scenarios. Absolutely deadly in transition in the regular season, as we saw against Leeds.

At £25m, it would perhaps be a big risk for Everton, though, depending on the future of Beto, it may be one that is worth taking.
