James Garner agrees contract as AC Milan make surprise January move for Everton star

James Garner has been the standout star for Everton this season.

Garner was sensational as Everton beat Aston Villa 1-0 on Sunday, keeping the Toffees in contention for European football in the Premier League.

With Jack Grealish now out injured long-term, his responsibility to create chances will only grow, as well as keeping things solid in midfield.

Thankfully, Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are back or close to returns, with David Moyes keeping his star men together.

Garner is attracting serious interest ahead of the February deadline, however.

James Garner agrees long-term Everton contract

AC Milan have been sniffing around Garner this month, with the Italian giants taking a shine to the former Manchester United man.

Moyes has never wavered from wanting him to sign a new contract, though, and it looks like he has finally got that wish.

According to Bobble, Garner has agreed on a new long-term deal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It is said that Garner is set to sign the improved terms on the new Everton contract, with AC Milan and other clubs seeing their interest rebuffed already.

James Garner by the numbers this season

Garner has been among the very best in the Premier League; that’s no secret.

Via Sofascore, his standout performance was in Everton’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest. He was everywhere in a massive victory at the City Ground.

With their backs against the wall in terms of team news, Garner scored and assisted in the win, also taking four shots and creating two big chances.

Garner also dominated defensively, winning three tackles and eight of his nine duels in total.

That just proves that he is a midfielder who can do everything, something that very few can claim to do as well, even in the entirety of the Premier League.

Thomas Tuchel was at Everton’s win over Villa, and with a World Cup coming up very shortly, Garner could just be playing himself into contention for North America in the summer.

With Leeds up next in the Premier League, Garner will just be focusing on consistent results, rather than his contract or the World Cup, but both are on the way very soon.
