David Moyes convinced as price set for Everton to conclude Kalvin Phillips deal
David Moyes believes Everton can climb further up the Premier League table by signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
The Scottish manager is a big fan of the 30-year-old, who he believes can add grit and experience to the Toffees’ engine room.
Phillips has been linked with a move to Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the former West Ham United boss convinced the Englishman can rediscover his form at the Blues.
While Moyes doesn’t expect The Friedkin Group to sanction permanent transfers in January, the American owners may have to change their plans before the 2 February deadline.
Manchester City open to £15m Kalvin Phillips exit amid Everton interest
Man City prefer to sell Phillips in the coming weeks rather than sanction another loan move, according to SportsBoom.
The news outlet reports on 22 January that the Toffees will have to compete against Leeds United, with an offer of around £15million needed from the Hill Dickinson Stadium to tempt the Sky Blues.
It’s been claimed that Pep Guardiola’s team are open to offers, and Moyes wants the Blues to back him in the winter window.
Phillips has effectively been ostracised at Man City, failing to make their Premier League squad this season.
While TFG are only planning a couple of loan signings at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the Scottish manager will surely be hoping they change their minds soon.
The England international hasn’t really shown a lot of quality in recent seasons, but he could potentially be a decent acquisition to improve squad depth at the Merseyside outfit.
Kalvin Phillips can help David Moyes fulfil promise
Moyes is open to letting Harrison Armstrong return to Preston North End, with the young midfielder returning to the Toffees at the start of January.
Everton took the option to recall the 19-year-old from his loan spell at Deepdale as the Scottish manager struggled for options.

With Idrissa Gueye returning from the Africa Cup of Nations and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall expected to recover from his injury soon, Armstrong may struggle for game time at the Blues until the end of the season.
If the Merseyside outfit do sign Phillips, they will surely be much more willing to let the young Englishman return to PNE and further his development with senior minutes in the Championship.
