Supercomputer predicts whether Everton will avoid 36-year first vs Leeds in Premier League

Everton face Leeds United at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday night in an important Premier League clash.

David Moyes’ side ended a three-match streak without a win last Sunday, Thierno Barry scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.

It leaves the Toffees sitting 10th in the Premier League, but only three points behind Liverpool in fourth.

In order to mount a real challenge for the European football next season, Everton must string together a run of good results, and that could start against Leeds.

Everton big favourites against Leeds in Premier League

Despite the fact that Leeds currently sit 16th in the Premier League, they are on an impressive run of form and will make life extremely difficult for Everton.

Daniel Farke’s side have only lost one of their last 10 games across all competitions, and are now eight points clear of the relegation zone.

In fact, Leeds are only just seven points behind the Toffees, and could close that gap with a win at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, according to the Opta Supercomputer, Everton are big favourites for the clash, and have a 52.4 per cent chance of coming away with all three points.

The Whites have a 23.3 per cent shot at victory on Monday evening, with the draw at 24.3 per cent.

Everton tipped to avoid 36-year first against Leeds

On the opening weekend of the season, Everton were beaten 1-0 by Leeds at Elland Road.

Farke’s side were controversially awarded a penalty late on after James Tarkowski was adjudged to have handled the ball, with Lukas Nmecha making no mistake from 12 yards.

Leeds have not completed the double over Everton since the 1990-91 season, but that’s exactly what they will be looking to do on Monday evening.

Howard Kendall was in charge of the Toffees when they last suffered the feat, losing 3-2 and 2-0 to a West Yorkshire side who eventually ended that campaign fourth in the first division.

Everton fans will be hoping that the supercomputer prediction comes true and Leeds don’t secure a first double over the Merseyside outfit in 36 years.
