Everton reveal shows why David Moyes is set for Craven Cottage joy this weekend

David Moyes will be looking to push Everton further up the Premier League table when they travel to face Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Tyrique George could be in line for his debut after he completed his switch from Chelsea on deadline day.

George is looking forward to playing in front of Everton supporters, but this weekend, he will have to settle for a reduced number with the game being at Craven Cottage.

Everton had previously beaten Fulham earlier in the season, and now Moyes has the chance to achieve an Everton feat 12 years in the making.

A win for the Blues would go a long way in Everton’s European ambitions, and that could be aided by a stat about the Toffees’ defence this season.

Why Everton’s defence could get them a win against Fulham

Moyes has built an Everton side that are becoming increasingly difficult to beat when they are on the road, and that is clear in the numbers.

In the Premier League, only Arsenal are better defensively when away from home than the Toffees. This season, they have conceded just 11 goals in 12 away Premier League games, which is fewer than a goal a game.

In fact, it is the club’s best defensive record on the road since 2008-09 (17 in 19 games).

With this record, Everton have earned more points away from home (18 out of 36) than they have while playing at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It presents a good opportunity for yet another strong result for Moyes when they face Fulham.

Everton forwards need to reward their defensive teammates

It is all well and good being defensively sound at the back, but if the forwards are not able to reward their teammates’ hard work by scoring goals and pushing Everton to a win, it will all be done in vain.

Goals ultimately win games, and while being hard to score against is an excellent trait, Everton’s win-draw-loss record this season shows that is the biggest concern.

Thierno Barry looks to have turned a corner in front of goal, and Beto’s recent equaliser against Brighton should hopefully be a much-needed confidence boost.

The arrival of George could further help Everton’s woes in front of goal. If they can begin finding the net more often, then this away stat could truly be a great omen.

Hopefully, another good away trip is on the cards for the travelling supporters.
