Ange Postecoglou shares cheat code for Everton to stop Manchester United in their tracks

Ange Postecoglou has given David Moyes some perfect advice to follow when Everton face Manchester United on Monday.

The Red Devils are in excellent form, winning four of their last five matches and drawing the other. Michael Carrick has turned the ship around at Old Trafford.

There are certainly some concerns for Everton’s chances, especially with it being a home game and with the Toffees’ home record being poor at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Moyes will no doubt be drawing up ideas to bring to the training ground and the match as he looks for ways to get a result over the line.

And former Tottenham manager Postecoglou may have just given the Scotsman the blueprint on how to do so.

Ange Postecoglou shares the secret to beating Manchester United

Postecoglou’s recent appearance on The Overlap may have come at the right time for Moyes.

The former Spurs boss has been speaking about Tottenham’s Europa League final success against Manchester United, and there are some takeaways the Everton manager should take notice of.

The Australian has admitted his game plan heading into the final in Bilbao was to keep Bruno Fernandes quiet, and if they were able to do that, their opposition would not score.

It is a blueprint that Everton could now take into their match against the Red Devils, and it is a tactic that could stop Manchester United.

Moyes could target the 31-year-old by appointing one of his players to constantly man-mark the Portuguese player.

Have Everton ever managed to stop Bruno Fernandes?

Keeping Fernandes quiet is easier said than done, and it is a feat that the Blues have not often been able to do.

In the reverse fixture this season, the Portuguese midfielder was kept fairly quiet, as he did not pick up a goal or assist. However, he was handed a 7.6 Sofascore rating, showing he was still a danger.

In the four matches before that, he has a goal or assist in each of them. So Everton are clearly one of his more favourable opponents.

Midfielders such as James Garner or Idrissa Gana Gueye will have to be on top of their game and limit the amount of time the Man United captain gets on the ball.

If they can manage to frustrate Fernandes, the prospect of a huge three points in the European race will be much more achievable.
