Everton have cause for pessimism vs Man United amid latest David Moyes reveal

Everton welcome Man United to Hill Dickinson on Monday.

The Toffees suffered defeat against Bournemouth last time out, and to make matters worse, their ability to bounce back from that loss will hinge on them securing victory against a Man United side that has lost one of their last 10.

Michael Carrick has worked wonders to get results with the Red Devils, but found himself unstuck when held to a 1-1 draw away to West Ham last time out.

David Moyes will be the man tasked with inflicting a defeat on Carrick’s men, but if history has anything to say about it, that seems unlikely.

What is David Moyes’ record vs Man United?

Moyes has only encountered five teams more than he has Man United throughout his career, with a total of 41 fixtures against the Red Devils.

But the concern stems from the fact that he has won just eight of those games, while having suffered 25 defeats.

His teams have averaged just 0.78 points per match against the Red Devils, which is his fourth-worst record against any side that he has faced off against more than 10 times.

However, the one cause for optimism is that only one of them defeats has happened in the last five encounters.

Three of his eight wins against Man United have been in the last three years, with the most recent one being back in November, when the Toffees secured a 1-0 win at Old Trafford.

Everton have one objective to secure victory vs Man United

Regardless of whether it is home or away, Man United appear to be one of the hardest sides to beat at the moment, and that is a testament to Carrick.

However, the key player behind that recent success is Fernandes, who will undoubtedly be their most crucial player on Monday night.

In fact, the midfielder has been involved in 10 goals in his last nine Premier League appearances away from home, with eight of those being assists.

It’s the joint-most assists a Man United player has achieved away from home since Ryan Giggs managed it back in 2002.

Stopping him will be hard, but if Everton can, then they will have a clearer route to victory.
