Liam Delap to Everton transfer reality emerges after what Liam Rosenior has said
Everton have been linked with a move for Liam Delap.
Regardless of what happens between now and the end of the campaign, it’s clear that the Toffees will be in the market for a new striker in the summer.
Neither Thierno Barry nor Beto have shown anywhere near enough quality to warrant a starting spot in a Premier League side, and the Toffees failed to add to their numbers up top in the winter.
The Friedkin Group will not want to make the same mistake in the summer, having already earmarked Delap for a potential transfer.
Liam Rosenior may have ruled out Liam Delap exit
Having impressed with Ipswich last season, many expected Delap to be a hit at Chelsea, but his first six months at Stamford Bridge have certainly been more of a miss.
The 23-year-old has scored just one goal in 18 Premier League appearances for the Blues, while having found the net twice in his other 13 appearances in other competitions.
Joao Pedro has taken the spotlight at Chelsea, which has meant that Delap has been forced to settle for a place on the bench more often than not, but Rosenior believes that he will come good next season.
Via the Chelsea website, he said: “If you look at most players’ careers, after they have joined a club, it’s the second season they really take off.”

And while it may seem like a fairly innocuous comment, it certainly suggests that Rosenior wants to see Delap stay at Stamford Bridge and continue his development.
Would Delap solve Everton’s issues?
Derlap would be far more likely to score goals than Barry or Beto, but that isn’t the only issue at Everton, nor is it their biggest.
The Toffees have a very passive style of play, which very rarely sees the striker utilised anywhere else aside from in front of goal.
Chance creation has been very poor under David Moyes in the Premier League, and Delap would have to suffice with the same level of service that has starved the current striking options at Hill Dickinson
The Toffees are 15th in the Premier League when it comes to big chances created.
His arrival would be a step forward, but it would still leave Everton with a lot of work to do to address their concerns in front of goal.
