Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall holds key for Everton vs Newcastle as 12-year first achievable

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could be the difference-maker for Everton when they face Newcastle.

Say it quietly, but David Moyes is slowly starting to come under pressure at Everton, with his side having won just three of their last 13 in all competitions.

Up next for the Toffees is a trip North to face Newcastle United, with Everton having won once there in the last seven years, showcasing the magnitude of the task at hand.

The pressure on Moyes will grow stronger if the Merseysiders fail to return to winning ways, and if they are to do so, Dewsbury-Hall could be the key.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall tops Everton metric that will be crucial vs Newcastle

This Everton side is certainly lacking firepower, and if progression is to be achieved next season, that will need to be addressed in the summer.

But for now, Moyes has to get the most out of the players he has at his disposal, and Dewsbury-Hall is one of those with the ability to make a difference.

The 27-year-old has five goals and two assists in the Premier League this season, having started 19 of their 27 league encounters so far.

Four of those goal involvements have come away from home, and in the games in which he has contributed, Everton have won all of them.

That includes away victories against Wolves, Manchester United and Fulham, the latter of which was their last Premier League away encounter.

Everton can achieve 12-year first vs Newcastle

The Toffees won 1-0 on their last trip to St James’ Park, with Carlos Alcaraz scoring just after the hour mark.

If Everton can repeat the result this weekend, it will be the first time they have won back-to-back away encounters against the Magpies since the 2013-14 season.

Romelu Lukaku was on the scoresheet in their 3-0 win over Newcastle back in March of 2014, and what the Toffees would give to have a striker like him in their squad for the current campaign.

A win for the Blues this weekend could take them up to seventh in the Premier League, with the top eight looking increasingly likely to have a spot in Europe next season.
