Roy Keane predicts year-long first for Everton in clash vs Newcastle United
Roy Keane has predicted Everton’s disappointing run to continue away to Newcastle United.
Everton looked to be in good shape to mount a push for European football after their 2-1 win at Fulham on 7 February.
But David Moyes‘ side’s momentum has hit the buffers in recent weeks off the back of a 2-1 loss to Bournemouth on 10 February, followed by a 1-0 reverse against Manchester United on Monday.
The Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit are now down to ninth but are still within three points of seventh-placed Brentford, who are primed to take the division’s Conference League qualifying spot.
Next up, Everton travel to St James’ Park to take on 11th-placed Newcastle on Saturday. However, going by former United player Keane, another defeat beckons.

Roy Keane predicts third successive league loss for Everton
According to Opta, Newcastle are looking to complete the Premier League double over Everton for the sixth time (1993-94, 1995-96, 2001-02, 2020-21, 2022-23) after their 4-1 drubbing on Merseyside in November.
However, Everton won this exact fixture 1-0 last season and if they repeat that trick, that would match a feat of away wins in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2012-13/2013-14.
But, after defeats to Bournemouth and United, Everton are in danger of losing three in a row for the first time since January 2025 – where the Toffees lost twice under former manager Sean Dyche and then once with Moyes at the helm.

On Thursday, Keane predicted a 2-1 win for Newcastle over Everton in the latest Stick to Football Episode.
He added, cheekily: “You know David Moyes has got a great record up there, you know that, obviously.”
As a manager, Moyes, 62, has faced Newcastle on 36 occasions, winning 12, drawing 10 and losing 14 at a points per game total of 1.28. The last time Everton suffered three consecutive league defeats under Moyes was in October 2011.
Everton have ace in the hole before Newcastle game
Although Everton’s home form is not turning out in the way many fans would have hoped following their move from Goodison Park to Hill Dickinson, their results on the road are more encouraging.
Indeed, Everton have won the second most away points in the Premier League since Moyes’ first away game back in charge in January last year (38).
Moreover, the Toffees and Arsenal are only one of two sides to concede fewer than a goal per away game in that time, with 18 in 22 and 18 in 23 matches respectively.
What may also help Everton’s cause on Saturday is the fact that Newcastle have lost their last two Premier League home matches, with defeats to Aston Villa and Brentford.

And Everton have a player who could be the difference-maker away from home. Summer signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has the most goal involvements (four) for Everton in Premier League away games this season (three goals and one assist).
Everton have also won all three away matches in which he has either scored and/or assisted (vs Wolves, Man United and Fulham).
Newcastle haven’t lost three in a row since January/February 2021 under Steve Bruce so there is plenty on the line in this clash.
