David Moyes issues Carlos Alcaraz update ahead of Newcastle clash as Everton injury issues mount

David Moyes has provided the latest update on Everton’s squad ahead of travelling up north to face Newcastle with bad news for Carlos Alcaraz.

The Blues are looking to create distance from the Geordies, who sit just one point behind the Hill Dickinson club.

Both sides are looking to qualify for Europe, and this match is crucial for the two outfits. Moyes had previously fallen to a heavy 4-1 defeat in the reverse fixture, and he’ll be looking to avoid the same again.

The Everton manager will be without Jack Grealish for the rest of the season but now has been given a new blow to Alcaraz.

What did David Moyes say about Carlos Alcaraz injury timeframe?

Speaking ahead of facing Howe’s side, Moyes has confirmed that Alcaraz will be out for the next three weeks, as the Argentinian is set for a spell on the sidelines.

The timing for the South American has come at a bad time, as it looked like he was about to be given a longer run in the team.

The Toffees manager confirmed he was supposed to start against Manchester United before picking up the injury.

Alcaraz was a key man for the Blues in the second half of last season, but since making the permanent switch, things have not gone as well.

Fortunately for Moyes, that is the only new concern, with others such as Grealish and Mark Travers also set to miss out.

He heads to St James’ Park with a strong squad, and one player could be key for them on Tyneside.

Why Everton will need Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to lead by example

Everton being without Jack Grealish is a big blow for the remainder of the season, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could take up the mantle against Newcastle.

This is because the 27-year-old has the most goal involvements (4) for Everton in Premier League away games this season.

Including his recent performance against Fulham, where he scored and assisted in the 2-1 win.

In fact, the Toffees have won every away game in which the midfielder has got a goal contribution, and Moyes will be hoping he can be as influential at St James’ Park.

The race for Europe is beginning to heat up as we get to the closing stages of the season, and the Scottish manager must continue to pick up points on the road, amid Everton’s poor home form.
