Everton ready to finally get Edon Zhegrova deal done as Juventus stance changes

Everton are prepared to try again to sign Edon Zhegrova after previous attempts to pry the Juventus winger away have failed.

That is according to Calciomercato, who have provided an update on the Toffees’ hunt for the Kosovo international.

Attacking reinforcements are likely to be the priority in the summer, and with Tyler Dibling and Dwight McNeil failing to impress, it is no surprise that another winger is on the shortlist.

This would make it David Moyes’ third approach for Zhegrova, as they tried to sign him from Lille last summer before he joined Juventus.

Then in January, the Blues made an approach to Juventus to see if a deal could then be struck with the Old Lady, but there was no progress made.

Now, things have seemingly changed, and it could be a more cost-effective move over signing other players shortlisted, such as Geny Catamo.

What is Juventus’ stance on selling Edon Zhegrova?

Zhegrova has failed to live up to the expectations set on him in Turin, and it now looks like the Serie A club are willing to cut their losses.

According to the report from Italy, “Juventus are ready to sell him this summer,” and Everton could be poised to swoop in.

The Blues are reportedly “ready to re-engage in the summer to bring him to England,” and that would finally end their year-long chase of the 27-year-old.

Everton will no doubt be keeping tabs on the situation, as they will not want to miss out on a long-term target for the third time.

How much could Everton sign Zhegrova for?

The Kosovan winger was bought by Juventus for £13.5million, and truthfully it would be hard for the Old Lady to request any more than what they already paid.

Everton and Juventus could strike a deal that sees the Turin-based club receive their money back, and after a failed transfer, that may be tempting to them.

In this case, Juventus do not hold much leverage in terms of the attacker’s value, and settling for a break-even outcome may be the best they can get.

He has made just one start throughout the whole season so far, making 19 appearances in all competitions. He has yet to score or assist for the Italian giants.

The move may not have worked out, but there is still a quality player, proven by his Lille days, that Everton could now snap up and bring to Hill Dickinson.
