Friedkin Group absolutely must not extend Beto’s contract – David Moyes has already revealed why
Beto’s Everton contract will be a subject of intense discussion in the upcoming months.
Beto has scored just four Premier League goals in 28 matches this season, and has not been at the level that is required to lead the line for the Blues.
The misfiring striker was linked with a Hill Dickinson Stadium exit, but ultimately stayed with the Toffees as a move away failed to materialise.
The Friedkin Group must act, and not extend the Guinea-Bissau forward’s deal beyond the current expiry date.
He may have scored against Newcastle, but that should not change their stance on the matter.

What is Beto’s current contract situation at Everton?
Beto is still on the four-year contract that he signed when he joined the Merseysiders in a £26million move from Udinese.
His current deal is set to expire on 30 June 2027, if he does not sign fresh terms with the club to extend his stay.

He is understood to be on around £60,000-per-week, and should not be rewarded with an upgraded contract.
How David Moyes has already made Beto feelings clear
David Moyes has already revealed why the Toffees should not hand the 28-year-old a new deal, with an admission that he made earlier this season.
Speaking in September 2025, he said: “I’ve been a bit disappointed with Beto. We need a bit more and he can do more, he has done more. We’re hoping we can get a bit more from him but he is a really honest, working lad.
“He needs to be part of linking the game a lot better. The boy knows he needs to improve but if he continues to run through like he did last season, he’ll get a lot one one-v-ones and we’ll take that as well.”
Beto has not really improved in the way that Moyes will have hoped, so the Friedkins have a really easy decision to make, when it comes to his future.
The Scotsman will surely not push for an extension, given his miserable form in this campaign, which could deny the nine-time league champions a place in European competition.
Why was Beto labelled as ‘shambolic’ for Everton?
Beto was blasted as ‘shambolic’ after his display in the Blues’ 1-1 draw against West Ham in September.
Speaking on the Royal Blue Podcast, Tony Scott said: “He’s got no game intelligence, he doesn’t know whether to make runs, his link up play is awful.
“His hold-up play is shambolic, and I look at other teams in the Premier League, and every single team in the league has got better centre forwards than Everton.”
That poor form has continued, so there is surely only one option for the Blues’ ownership when it comes to offering a new contract to the attacker.
He cannot be extended, he does not do enough, and the L4 outfit could use the money that they save to bring in a striker that can make the required impact.
They have around 16 months to make a decision, but if he does not improve significantly, then it is an easy one to make.
