When does Iroegbunam’s current Everton contract run until?

Iroegbunam signed a three-year contract when he joined the Blues in a £9m deal in June 2024.

He is still on that contract, so he is set to be a free agent in the summer of 2027 as it stands, if he is not offered a new deal.

There have been no reports about any extension, which leaves Moyes’ side in a vulnerable position if interest in the 22-year-old is reignited.

What has Iroegbunam said about Everton?

Iroegbunam seems to be comfortable with the nine-time league winners, revealing that he wants to make his way into Moyes’ team more often and show what he can do on a regular basis.

Speaking in December 2025, he said: “I’m working hard in training. In the games I’m showing glimpses of what I can do.

“Obviously, as I’ve said before, there’s definitely more to come. But, yeah, it’s just showing all I can do and really taking the opportunity.

“I’m feeling good. I feel like I start to tire towards the end, so it’s just about getting those fitness levels up so I can play really strong throughout the whole 90 minutes but I think with more games that will come.

“There’s obviously clarity in what the manager wants his midfielders to do. But it’s just about showing my strengths and bringing them into the team when I’m playing.”

Whether Iroegbunam stays or not, may well depend on whether he can achieve those ambitions that he set out in those comments.

What has Moyes said about Iroegbunam?

Moyes has agreed with Iroegbunam’s assessment, admitting that he needs to be more consistent if he is to earn a permanent place in the team.

Speaking in January, the Scotsman said: “I think Tim’s improving. I think he still needs to have consistency in his all-round game, really, you know.

“I think he has moments where he’s very exciting and looks good, and then there will be other moments where, you know, he doesn’t do quite so well.

“He’s a relatively young midfield player and still getting used to playing more Premier League games.”

It sounds like the manager wants more from the young midfielder when is on the pitch, and that could mean that he is not offered a new deal if he does not improve his performances when he is given a chance.

Right now, it appears that Iroegbunam has more work to do, if he is stay put on Merseyside, but there have been no official updates on his situation, so it is all guesswork at the moment.

Reading between the lines though, his own comments and Moyes’ imply that both parties are hoping that he makes the step up in the near future, and if he fails to do so, it could be curtains for his short Toffees career.
