Jack Grealish sends new Everton message as he reacts to Jordan Pickford heroics vs Newcastle

Jack Grealish was left delighted by Jordan Pickford’s last-minute save as Everton beat Newcastle United 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Sandro Tonali’s volley looked destined for the back of the net late in second-half stoppage time, but Pickford flung himself to the right and tipped the ball onto the bar.

It was a magnificent reaction stop, and one that secured all three points for David Moyes’ side, who took the lead on three separate occasions.

Goals from Jarrad Branthwaite and Beto had been cancelled out by Jacob Ramsey and Jacob Murphy respectively, but Pickford’s save meant that Newcastle were unable to find an answer to Thierno Barry’s winner.

Jack Grealish makes new Jordan Pickford claim

Grealish is expected to miss the rest of the season for Everton after undergoing surgery on a fracture in his foot earlier this month.

It is unknown if the winger will ever play for the Toffees again, with his loan ending in the summer, but he is still supporting the Merseyside outfit from afar.

After Everton’s win over Newcastle on Saturday, Grealish took to Instagram to celebrate the result.

The England international posted the full-time graphic on his story, congratulating his current teammates on the victory.

Grealish also claimed that Pickford tipping Tonali’s shot onto the bar was the save of the season.

He said: “Naaaaa what a win and performance!! Absolutely unreal from everyone!! Jordan Pickford, save of the season.”

Jordan Pickford keeps Everton in European hunt

Pickford’s last-gasp save ensured that Everton took all three points back to Merseyside and moved up to eighth in the Premier League table.

The Toffees are still very much in the hunt for a European place after the win, with 10 games left of the season.

Everton in Premier League table

With the top five likely to get Champions League football, finishing seventh would ensure a place in the Conference League for Moyes’ side.

They are currently three points behind Brentford, who occupy that position, and still have to play the Bees before the end of the campaign.
