David Moyes hints at significant tactical change for Everton after what was seen in Newcastle win

David Moyes knows that he will have a hard choice in which striker to pick for Everton’s next game against Burnley.

Beto and Thierno Barry were both on the scoresheet as the Blues beat Newcastle United 3-2 in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Toffees took another big step toward their dream of finishing in a spot for European football with the three points, and their next task is to keep the momentum going.

However, Moyes‘ toughest decision will be on which number nine to start, unless the Everton boss decides to play both of them.

David Moyes doesn’t rule out two up top for Everton

Everton have been misfiring at Hill Dickinson Stadium this season, and a clash against a struggling Burnley side could be exactly what the Blues need to get the win.

After months of issues up top, Moyes now has the opportunity to play one of Beto or Barry for the match, as both of whom seem to be full of confidence.

Some Bluenoses will have divided opinions on the pair, but Moyes doesn’t seem to have a favourite between them.

While speaking in his press conference before the Burnley game this Tuesday, the Everton head coach didn’t rule out a two-striker formation moving forward.

Moyes said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo: “Who knows? Two centre forwards may well be the future,” but then did confirm that it’s not something the Toffees will deploy regularly, as it’ll only be used when necessary.

If there were ever a time to test the waters with Beto and Barry up top again, the Clarets could be the perfect opportunity to do so.

Why the current Beto and Thierno Barry dynamic is perfect

Barry has been given the nod to start more times than not this campaign, as Beto suffered a slow start to the season.

The £27milllion man came to Merseyside with big expectations, but there is an acceptance that he will only grow alongside the Toffees in time.

Beto got the green light to start against Newcastle, as Barry came off the bench to score what was the match winner, and if recent evidence is anything to go by, Moyes shouldn’t change too much.

Barry and Beto are both impactful off the bench, and regardless of who starts, Everton will only get the most out of the pairing this way.

Now, the strikers have to push each other on, and may still be given a chance to shine together in the future.
