Friedkin Group to watch closely after Dwight McNeil developments in Everton win vs Newcastle

Dwight McNeil looks almost certain to leave Everton in the summer transfer window, but The Friedkin Group may be delighted with recent developments under David Moyes.

The 26-year-old found himself moments away from leaving in the winter window, but Crystal Palace pulled the plug on a £20million deal at the last minute, keeping him at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the rest of the season.

The Merseyside outfit could find that level of fee hard to come by again as they look to ship out the winger, who has largely been out of favour.

However, the efforts to recoup a sizeable fee for McNeil may have been aided against Newcastle.

And the ownership may be looking at McNeil positively after he helped guide Everton to another win on the road at St James’ Park.

Why will the Friedkin Group be happy with Dwight McNeil vs Newcastle

McNeil starting against Newcastle was a bit of a shock, with the Everton manager opting to keep new signing Tyrique George on the bench instead.

McNeil’s performances have often frustrated fans, and the Englishman has not impressed for quite a while for the L3 outfit.

However, the Everton number seven did not do his future prospects any disservice with his display at St James’ Park.

It was all action for 81 minutes from the 26-year-old, who was just as lively in attack as he was strong in defence.

Overall, it was a performance that certainly did not harm his value, and the Friedkin Group will be keeping a close eye on his future involvement and remaining silently happy after the weekend.

If McNeil continues to feature as prominently as he did in Tyneside and does so to a decent level, the Blues will find it easier to locate a buyer close to the £20m they lost in the winter.

Why Tyrique George may have to bide his time at Everton

At the moment, it is not clear why George is getting limited minutes for the Toffees since arriving from Chelsea.

The 20-year-old has made just one start, and away to Newcastle, he did not even come off the bench.

Both McNeil and Harrison Armstrong look to be trusted more than George so far, but that can certainly change very quickly for the young talent.

The Chelsea academy product is still finding his way in Merseyside, and if he continues to apply himself in training, he could find his way into Moyes’ plans for the rest of the season.
