Premier League share Idrissa Gueye and Everton footage to 45m+ followers – ‘Imagine if…’

Idrissa Gueye clearly made a positive impression as Everton secured victory against Burnley on Tuesday.

The Senegal international started in midfield once again under David Moyes and helped his side to victory at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees took a long-awaited three points away from Scott Parker’s side after going without a home win since December.

James Tarkowski and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall were the pair to get on the scoresheet in the 2-0 win as the latter netted his sixth goal of the season.

Despite this, it was Gueye who caught the eye of the Premier League with a social media post just hours after the full-time whistle in L4.

Idrissa Gueye strike vs Burnley shared by Premier League

The 36-year-old is arguably getting better with age as he continues to play a vital role for the L4 outfit.

He featured alongside James Garner on Tuesday and helped once again to get the best out of the Englishman as he grabbed yet another assist.

That isn’t to say that the Senegalese ace isn’t carrying his weight, as Gueye came so close to scoring against Burnley himself.

He picked up the ball in the second half and combined with Garner before winning a 50:50 with Kyle Walker to then shimmy his way into a shooting position.

His curling effort moved in the air, but just slightly too much as the ball rose and struck the bar before bouncing to safety for Burnley.

This went down well with the Premier League as they shared a clip of the play with the on-screen caption, “Imagine if this went in…”

The video also featured a message that read: “Idrissa Gueye did everything except score. What an attempt by the Everton midfielder in their win against Burnley.”

The Premier League X account has over 45 million followers, and the video itself has over 400,000 views after 12 hours.

Gueye has been rightly showcased to this sort of audience to showcase his technical ability that can sometimes go unnoticed.
