Everything we know about James Garner’s contract situation as Everton heroics continue

James Garner has been a standout star for Everton this season.

The Englishman has been a constant threat in midfield for the Toffees and has become one of the most important players under David Moyes, as showcased by Sofascore below.

He has featured alongside Idrissa Gueye to help provide the Blues with a solid base to build forward from as the 24-year-old continues to shine going forward.

That has attracted plenty of interest in his signature, especially with the knowledge that his contract was set to expire at the end of the campaign.

Everton were prompted to tie Garner down to a new deal, and now Goodison News has rounded up what we know about that.

What are the terms of James Garner’s Everton contract?

There was no lack of links away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season, but the midfielder opted to dedicate his future to the L4 outfit.

After months of discussions surrounding a new contract, the former England Under-21 international penned fresh terms on Merseyside.

Garner signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Everton in January and has taken a pay rise to be within the club’s highest earners.

Reports suggest he earns a weekly wage of £80,000 before bonuses, with potential extras bringing the total to £100,000.

That takes him up to a yearly salary in the region of £5.2million with that pay set to last until the summer of 2030 if he sees out his deal in L4.

When could Garner leave Everton?

Even with the new contract behind him, that may not be enough to totally end any interest in the midfielder’s signature.

His versatility makes him an attractive prospect to top sides, especially given the spotlight his talents in the middle of the park have received this campaign.

That could even prompt a summer exit from Everton, but only if the price is right for a player who has only just signed a new long-term deal.

If no offer comes in before the new campaign, there is every chance that clubs will look to make a move in an upcoming window in 2027 if he maintains his current form.
