The three Premier League fixtures that could secure Everton’s place in Europe

Everton’s fixtures for the rest of the season are far from kind, but there are a few that could define their chance of getting into Europe.

David Moyes has the Toffees in an excellent position so far, and the Scotsman will be assessing their chances as they take a break from Premier League action.

Due to Everton being out of the FA Cup, they have an 11-day break from their recent fixture against Burnley to facing Arsenal.

However, Moyes will be looking at games following facing the Gunners, with a stretch of three fixtures looking to be extremely important.

The three-match run that could end or keep Everton’s European hopes alive

Everton still have to play five of the teams above them in their final nine games of the season, so if they get into Europe, it will certainly be down to their own hard work.

Those matches will pose a real threat to the Toffees, particularly with many of them at the Hill Dickinson, and their poor home form has been well documented.

However, there are three fixtures which could either cement Everton’s spot in European competition or ultimately end their hopes.

From 21 March to 19 April, the Blues play Chelsea, Brentford and Liverpool in a three-game stretch, with all three also vying for European places.

The game against Liverpool will be the first Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and the Blues will want to start that era off on a good note.

How many points did Everton pick up in the reverse fixtures?

If Everton want to keep their chances of Europe alive, they will need to pick up quite a few points against those three teams mentioned.

Earlier in the season, in the reverse games against Chelsea, Brentford and Liverpool, the Toffees came back empty-handed.

At this stage of the season, Moyes will not be afforded the luxury of such results, especially with those matches coming consecutively.

Everton will need at least one win from those three games, and perhaps a draw. Anything less could see those around them move too far ahead in the table.

Once the Premier League returns, it will be an exciting but nervous few weeks for the L3 outfit.
