Tim Iroegbunam in for difficult Everton conversation as David Moyes to block exit

Tim Iroegbunam will surely be dissatisfied with his lack of game time at Everton this season.

The 22-year-old has started just 12 Premier League games this season, averaging 50 minutes per game, as David Moyes prefers the midfield partnership of Idrissa Gueye and James Garner.

After the previous campaign, it seemed like the former Aston Villa youngster was ready to step up and become a regular fixture for the Blues, but that hasn’t been the case.

There has been speculation around Iroegbunam’s future at the Merseyside outfit in recent months, and the Scottish manager may be in for a difficult conversation with him in the summer.

David Moyes to push for Idrissa Gueye contract extension after latest Everton displays

Gueye was at his vintage best as the Toffees beat Burnley 2-0 at home in the Premier League on 3 March.

The Senegal international is showing no sign of slowing down and the Blues would be sensible to keep him for another season.

As things stand, the 36-year-old’s contract at Hill Dickinson Stadium expires in June, but Moyes will surely want to keep him for longer and could potentially block his exit.

The Scottish manager clearly have immense belief in Gueye’s ability to contribute to the Merseyside outfit’s success, but that could potentially hinder the development of some other players in the squad.

Iroegbunam was attracting concrete interest from Lazio in the winter window, and if the Senegalese veteran stays in L4 beyond this season, then the Englishman may look for pastures new.

David Moyes has found perfect solution for Hill Dickinson Stadium success

Everton won just their fifth game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium as Moyes got the better of Scott Parker.

After facing several fitness issues in the squad, the Scottish manager finally seems to have found some stability with his team selection, opting for the same lineup two games running.

It looks like the Blues have found a winning formula with James Tarkowski and Jarrad Brantwaite’s partnership at centre-back, Garner and Gueye in the midfield alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Dwight McNeil and Iliamn Ndiaye supporting Beto from the wings.

The likes of Michael Keane, Iroegbunam and Thierno Barry may have to bide their time to get back into the starting lineup after the Merseyside outfit’s recent results.
