Nathan Patterson holds the key as Everton swap deal could be on

Everton right-back Nathan Patterson is attracting interest from Sevilla once again.

The La Liga outfit wanted to sign Patterson in the winter transfer window, but Everton did not let him leave due to concerns over squad depth.

The former Rangers man has featured 66 times for the Hill Dickinson Stadium outfit, but he has only made eight appearances for David Moyes‘ side this season.

A report from Vamos Mi Sevilla on 7 March claims that the Andalusia-based club are going to revive their interest once the transfer window reopens, and that could open the door to another Blues move.

What swap would Patterson be part of?

Everton should sanction the loan exit that the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan side wants for the Scotland ace, as it would help them bring in a target of their own.

The Toffees have been heavily linked with Juanlu Sanchez from Los Nervionenses, so a potential swap deal makes sense.

Perhaps, it could be a loan swap, or the Blues could sign the Spanish international permanently and allow Patterson to depart on loan as a replacement.

Why Juanlu would solve Everton issues

The Blues have been looking for a right-back for multiple transfer windows because they are currently having to play Jake O’Brien in the position, who is naturally a centre-back, with mixed success.

Juanlu would offer the natural attacking threat that modern right-backs bring, something which the Irishman does not do.

Patterson and Seamus Coleman have proven that they are not the right option for Moyes’ team at the moment, because they are far too injury prone, so bringing in a new player should be the priority.

Juanlu already has 98 appearances for the Spanish side, with six goals and 10 assists, and is able to play right-back or further forward as a winger.

A potential swap arrangement with Sevilla would benefit both parties, as the Merseysiders get a player they have looked at for a long time, while the Spaniards would get a player who would probably prefer the slower pace.

Whether it happens remains to be seen, but it makes far too much sense and definitely should be taken into consideration by the Friedkin Group and the recruitment staff before the summer transfer window opens.
