Everton soon to learn exactly how good they are ahead of Premier League run-in

Everton are enjoying one of their best Premier League seasons in a number of years in 2025-26.

The last time Everton finished in the top half of the Premier League was in the 2020-21 season, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side claiming 10th that year.

Since then, the Toffees have finished 16th, 17th, 15th and 13th in the top flight respectively, but David Moyes’ team look set to buck that trend this term.

With Everton’s back-to-back wins over Newcastle and Burnley respectively, the Toffees are still harbouring hopes of finishing in the European places too, but that’s not going to be easy when looking what’s down the road…

Everton have brutal Premier League run-in of games

There are no easy games in the Premier League, as bottom-placed side Wolves have been reminding everyone in recent weeks with scalps over Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal respectively.

However, there is such a thing as favourable fixtures, but those are going to be a luxury for Everton between now and the end of the season.

Starting on Saturday, Moyes’ men are away at current leaders Arsenal to begin their final nine-game stretch, before welcoming Chelsea to Hill Dickinson Stadium the following Saturday.

Another challenging away trip to Brentford is booked in for 11 April, before they’ll contest a Merseyside derby with Liverpool on home soil on 19 April.

West Ham away will come after that on 25 April, before a home clash with Pep Guardiola’s Man City on 2 May.

Selhurst Park and Crystal Palace will be on the Everton agenda on 9 May, before hosting Sunderland in the penultimate Premier League fixture of the season.

Everton will end their campaign away at relegation-threatened Tottenham, in what could be an evening in North London with so much on the line.

Moyes will learn plenty about his Everton team from this run

It’s natural for everyone connected with a football club to want their team to play as many favourable fixtures as possible, especially in the run-in of a season.

However, what Everton’s remaining fixture list will most certainly provide is clarity, as Moyes and the Toffees hierarchy will know exactly how good this group of players are at the end of it.

They’re going to face daunting test after daunting test for the rest of the way, but that’s no bad thing, as it will paint a much clearer picture in regards to what is needed in the summer transfer window.

It’s also a perfect opportunity for certain players to step up and show they can perform against the best sides in the division, and so if Everton are to claim a top half finish this year, they most certainly will’ve earned it.
