WSL returns: Everything fans need to know as Everton Women look to bounce back
Everton Women are looking to bounce back as the Women’s Super League returns on Sunday.
Following their 1-0 win against West Ham ahead of the league’s break, Scott Phelan’s side fell to a 2-1 FA Cup defeat against Liverpool, with the Reds bouncing back after a 4-1 defeat against the Toffees earlier this season.
Phelan took the job on an interim basis last month, before suffering his first loss in three last time out.
The WSL itself has been on pause since mid-February, with sides balancing European and FA Cup commitments.
With domestic action returning this weekend, Everton will be eager to bounce back against Tottenham on their return to action.

Everton face European challengers on return to WSL action
Phelan’s side face a stern test this weekend, as they make the trip to North London, where they face Tottenham, who are well in the hunt for a European position.
The Toffees sit three places below Spurs in eighth, though there is a remarkable 12 point gap between the two clubs after 16 WSL matches.
Martin Ho’s side beat Aston Villa 7-3 at Villa Park before the pause, before they overcame London City Lionesses on penalties to secure their spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The Toffees face a tough run before the season’s end, with a trip to Manchester United coming up after Tottenham, before they look to get revenge on Liverpool at Goodison Park after the recent cup defeat.
While Phelan’s side sit far away from relegation trouble, it could be a bumpy ride until the end of the season with Chelsea and Arsenal also still awaiting Everton.
Everton will be thankful for Tottenham trip
When it comes to the weekend’s fixture against Tottenham, Everton couldn’t be more thankful that it is Spurs who they are facing.
Rion Ishikawa, Honoka Hayashi, Hikaru Kitagawa and Clare Wheeler are all taking part in the Asian Cup with Japan and Australia at the moment, with Everton having the most representatives of any WSL side.
Incidentally, Spurs are the side with the second-most absentees heading into the weekend, with Clare Hunt, Toko Koga and Maika Hamano also representing Australia and Japan.
Both nations are set to take part in the quarter-finals this weekend, meaning that the aforementioned representatives will miss the clash between Spurs and Everton.
With players missing from both sides, the Tottenham fixture could not have fallen better for Everton, who are looking to get back to winning ways against a side battling for a European spot.
