Everton’s 2025-26 Premier League finish was foretold to a tee by the supercomputer
Everton‘s 2025-26 Premier League season was laid out for them by the Opta supercomputer before a ball was even kicked.
As late into the 2025-26 campaign as March, and still it held the promise of being a memorable season for Everton.
David Moyes‘ side were firmly in the mix for European football after their 3-0 win over Chelsea on 21 March, as they looked to qualify for Europe for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
However, things all started to go wrong from thereafter, as the Toffees would fail to win any of their final seven league games.
This shouldn’t have come as any surprise though, as Everton had their 2025-26 destiny revealed to them all the way back in August last year.

Supercomputer predicted Everton’s 2025-26 finish perfectly
Technology continues to have more and more of a say and role in the world, and that’s no different in football.
From VAR to semi-automated offsides and goal-line technology, the presence of it is felt on every single Premier League matchday.
| Everton’s 25-26 PL stats | Total |
| Open play goals scored | 30 |
| Set-piece goals scored | 13 |
| Home points won | 23 |
| Away points won | 26 |
| Expected goals (xG) | 46.7 |
The Opta supercomputer is another example of this, predicting and calculating everything from team’s expected finishes, chances of winning an individual game etc etc.
It once again predicted how the 2025-26 Premier League table would look before the first game of the season in mid-August last year, and it absolutely nailed it with Everton.
The supercomputer backed the Toffees to finish 13th, which they did, whilst it also had them winning an expected points tally of 48.42, with Moyes’ men finishing on 49.
What are the main positives from Everton’s 2025-26 season?
Everton’s season ended in hugely frustrating fashion, and there’s understandable anger from supporters over how their campaign petered out.
However, there are some positives to take, starting off with the fact they didn’t regress from 2024-25’s 13th-placed finish, with only their poor run-in ensuring they didn’t record a fourth-straight season where they improved upon their previous placing.
Signings such as Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall were excellent pieces of business, whilst James Garner enjoyed a career year, and could potentially bankroll the Toffees if sold this summer.

Beto ended the campaign well, Thierno Barry showed some late promise, Jarrad Branthwaite is still to come back from injury the centre-back pairing of Michael Keane and James Tarkowski was one of the best in the Premier League.
Moyes will be fearful of losing some key players this summer, but it’s hoped that the Friedkin Group (TFG) continue to show real ambition by retaining the services of their stars, whilst investing heavily into the playing squad over the coming weeks.
