Ancelotti reveals when Everton will start January transfer business

Carlo Ancelotti has had a brilliant start to his managerial career at Everton, with wins against Burnley and Newcastle United.

However, his biggest test waits on New Year’s Day when he travels to the Etihad to take on the Premier League champions.

Man City have proved vulnerable this season but Ancelotti will know that his winning run could easily come to an abrupt end with Pep Guardiola’s men looking for a big win.

Talking ahead of the game, Ancelotti refused to be rushed into talking about possible January transfers.

As quoted in the Liverpool Echo, Ancelotti said, “The market is not open yet. It opens tomorrow. There are a lot of rumours, that is normal. Everywhere in the world is like this.

“After the 5th of January we will have a meeting with the club and see if it is impossible to improve the squad. It is, in my opinion, a good squad.”

Everton have been linked with a number of high-profile players since the new manager took over, including James Rodriguez from Real Madrid.

He has been on loan at Bayern Munich for two seasons but Everton are said to be readying a £43m bid.
