Goodison View: Now not the time for Everton to get rid of in-form Toffee amid exit rumours
The next few transfer windows at Everton are expected to be rather busy ones after the arrival of galáctico manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Getting the Italian to come to Merseyside was a massive coup for the Toffees, but the Italian will doubtlessly want to spend big and improve his squad moving forward.
The 60-year-old has become used to splashing the cash at previous clubs like Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
Everton have shown themselves to be willing to spend in recent years, but what you cannot do while spending is allow top young players to fly the Goodison Park nest.
That is what the club risk happening with right back Jonjoe Kenny, who has been excelling out on loan at German giants Schalke this season.
Indeed, he has been so good that the Daily Mail reported recently that Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in him.
Surely now, when the 22-year-old is just beginning to fulfil his potential, is the wrong time to move on from a promising starlet like Kenny.
Seamus Coleman’s advancing age – he’s now 31 – is another reason why Kenny must be retained, as is the two men’s comparable performances this campaign.
As per WhoScored.com, Kenny beats out the Irishman in average tackles and clearances per game this season, while he’s scored more, grabbed more assists and is averaging more key passes an outing.
Offensively and defensively, the Englishman would appear to be the heir apparent to Coleman. Why, then, would the Toffees want to let him go?
In other Everton news, manager Ancelotti provided an important update on the status of the injury suffered by one star on Wednesday.
